Teachers Rock® Academy Choir 2025/26

The Teachers Rock® Academy Choir is an intergenerational ensemble bringing together teachers and their students. Founded in 2012 by vocal specialist Debbie Kent, the choir is part of the wider Teachers Rock® platform—a vocal learning initiative designed to inspire educators and young people through contemporary styles of music.

What Makes Us Stand Out?

  • Inclusive and community-driven, blending educational professional development with creative connection across age groups .

  • We mix fun group singing with meaningful personal and classroom impact: members credit the choir with boosting confidence, reducing stress, and enhancing teaching practice .

Key Achievements

  • Earned a Distinction in the RSL Level 3 Certificate in Group Performance after performing at Abbey Road Studios, one of the world's most iconic recording venues

  • Featured in a BBC Spotlight broadcast and participated in high-profile events such as Exeter Cathedral’s Christmas mini-residency, drawing audiences of over 1,000 people

Educational & Community Impact
As part of Teachers Rock®, the choir provides:

  • A professional development pathway for non-specialist staff to lead and enhance singing in schools

  • Inspirational role modelling by showcasing teaching staff ‘too cool for school’, enriching student engagement and intergenerational collaboration

Collaborative Events & Reach

  • Regular collaborations with educational settings and the wider community.

  • Featured in recordings guided by Debbie Kent and supported by gospel choirs and TV talent scouts for Britain's Got Talent.

Teachers Rock® Academy Choir is not just a choir—it’s an intergenerational creative powerhouse. Grounded in community, professional growth, and celebrated performances, it bridges the gap between teachers and students, delivering joyful, impactful music and personal transformation.
