On 5th December 2020, 24 Teachers Rock® singers came together in Exeter Cathedral for a socially distanced recording session wearing mandatory face masks. All vocal parts have been taught virtually via zoom and this was the first time the choir had met in person since Lockdown 1 in March 2020. This project aims to promote a return to safer singing in schools in light of the global pandemic. In October 2020, we released a virtual video of Time After Time in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease Association. On Saturday 5th December, 2020 Teachers Rock® made living history. 24 singers, socially distanced in Exeter Cathedral wearing mandatory face masks recorded a livestream performance of the new Christmas Carol 'New Born King'. All vocal parts were taught virtually through the 2nd lockdown and in just two 20 minute recording sessions the Covid secure recording mission was complete. It was a surreal but completely magical experience to finally bring our Teachers Rock® community back together again after 10 long months apart. In partnership with Exeter Cathedral and Devon & Torbay Music Education Hubs, this project aims to promote a return to safer singing in schools as well as celebrating the true meaning of Christmas. We would like to thank BBC Spotlight for their support and coverage of this inspirational project delivered by a dedicated community of educators across the South West. In addition, we will be hosting a special Christmas livestream performance on our YouTube channel for 8,000+ young people across the country on Wednesday 16th December (1:30pm). Join us if you can. Teachers Rock® UK 'Blinded By Your Grace (Part 2)' Recorded in isolation - May 2020 As our dedicated key worker educators prepare for their school doors to ‘officially’ re-open next Monday 1st June, our Teachers Rock community have collaborated on a special virtual choir performance to support each and every one of them. Featuring teaching staff from our satellite choirs across the South West as well as guest members from across the UK we are proud to present to you our anthemic rendition of Stormzy’s ‘Blinded By Your Grace (Part 2)’. As Michael Ebenazer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jr. aka Stormzy recently stated about his timeless track ... ‘everyone just feels it in their soul’ ... and Teachers Rock most certainly do! Over the past two years this gospel song has become a Teachers Rock anthem bringing to a close each live show, so what better choice for our first ever national collaboration. Arranged by our founder Debbie Kent and featuring Teachers Rock® accompanist John Bangham on keys, they bring this unique community of educators together in a virtual world sharing the emotional roller coaster they have all experienced on this unforgettable journey. A massive thank you to our awesome sound engineer and Teachers Rock® guitarist Gary Mitchell for providing the instrumental solo. Stay alert, control the virus, save lives
